Competition Details and Eligibility Criteria
Dates
- Applications are accepted on-line from January 1 through February 1, 2026.
- Students who apply and are accepted will participate in the adjudicated, in-person competition on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Guzzetta Hall at The University of Akron, 157 University Ave., across from EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall. (Organ applicants will compete at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH.)
- Winners will be announced Saturday, March 21 immediately following the competition.
- First- and second-place winners will be invited to perform at the Final Round/Winners Concert on May 3, 2026 at The University of Akron's Guzzetta Recital Hall.
Eligibility
- Students that have won first-place scholarships twice from Tuesday Musical in the past may not compete again in the same category.
- Applicants must be an Ohio resident or studying with a college/university music teacher at an Ohio academic institution.
- Applicants must be currently enrolled in a music-degree program at a college or university.
- Students born before March 21, 1996 are not eligible to apply.
- Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the judges, whose decisions are final.
Application Fees
- There is a fee of $40 due during the initial application process. Fees are non-refundable. Fees will be returned only for applications that cannot be accepted; those refunds will be processed immediately after March 21, 2026.

1st Place: Arden J. Yockey Scholarship for Brass - $2,000
2nd Place: Tuesday Musical Scholarship for Brass - $1,500
3rd Place: Tuesday Musical Scholarship for Brass - $1,000
