Applications accepted on-line January 1 through February 1, 2026.


Students who apply and are accepted will participate in the adjudicated, in-person competition on Saturday, March 21, 2026, in Guzzetta Hall at The University of Akron, 157 University Ave., across from EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall. (Organ applicants will compete at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 1250 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH.)
 

Winners announced Saturday, March 21 immediately following the competition.


First- and second-place winners will be invited to perform at the Final Round/Winners Concert on May 3, 2026 at The University of Akron's Guzzetta Recital Hall.

Eligibility

Students that have won first-place scholarships twice from Tuesday Musical in the past may not compete again in the same category.


Applicants must be Ohio residents or studying with a college/university music teacher at an Ohio academic institution.


Applicants must be currently enrolled in a music-degree program at a college or university.
Students born before March 21, 1996, are not eligible to apply.


Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the judges, whose decisions are final.

Fees

$40 is due during the initial application process. Fees are non-refundable. Fees will be returned only for applications that cannot be accepted; those refunds will be processed immediately after March 21, 2026.

IMPORTANT: Please prepare the complete works/movements as described in the repertoire requirements. Your total adjudicated performance time will be 15 minutes; the judge will monitor the timing so that all required repertoire will be performed at least in part.

Students are solely responsible for scheduling, compensating, and making all competition related arrangements with their accompanist. 

Tuesday Musical does not provide accompanists for this competition. If requested, a list of recommended area accompanists will be made available to students prior to the day of the competition.

All repertoire that requires accompaniment must be performed with accompaniment‪.‬‬‬‬‬

Only repertoire originally written for unaccompanied instrument or voice may be performed without an‬ accompanist‪.‬ ‬‬‬‬‬‬ ‬‬‬
