Clarinetist Jazmin Pascual and percussionist Peter Loferski won the two top awards in Tuesday Musical’s 2022 Scholarship Competition Final Round/Winners Concert on May 15, while guitarist Suvan Agarwal won the new People’s Choice Award.
Pascual, an undergraduate student at the Cleveland Institute of Music, won the $2,000 Arden J. Yockey Scholarship. Loferski, a master’s student at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a graduate of The University of Akron School of Music, won the $1,000 Arden J. Yockey Scholarship.
Agarwal, an undergraduate student at Oberlin Conservatory of Music, garnered the most votes from the audience to win the newly endowed John M. Ream Jr. DDS People’s Choice Award of $500.
Held at The University of Akron School of Music's Guzzetta Recital Hall, the 2022 Scholarship Competition Final Round/Winners Concert featured performances by the first- and second-place winners of Tuesday Musical’s 66th Annual Scholarship Competition held in March. The judges for the final round/concert were Frank Wiley, emeritus faculty member at Kent State University, and Roger Zahab, faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh.
