Applications accepted on-line here from January 1 through February 1, 2025. Some competition categories fill up, so early application is encouraged. (The application portal will go live at 12:01 a.m. on January 1, 2025.)

Students who apply and are accepted will participate in the adjudicated, in-person competition on Saturday, March 22, 2025, in Guzzetta Hall at The University of Akron, 157 University Ave., across from EJ Thomas Performing Arts Hall. (Organ applicants will compete on Saturday, March 15, at Westminster Presbyterian Church,1250 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH 44313.)

Winners announced Saturday, March 22, 2025.
Applicants must not have been born before March 22, 1995.

Application Fees

There is a fee of $40 due during the initial application process. Fees are non-refundable. Fees will be returned only for applications that cannot be accepted; those refunds will be processed immediately after March 22, 2025.

Winners Concert: Additional Scholarships Available

Winners of first- and second-place performance scholarships will be invited to perform in person at the Competition's Final Round/Winners Concert on Sunday, May 4, 2025, 2:30 p.m., in Guzzetta Recital Hall at The University of Akron.

The Scholarship Concert will be adjudicated and two additional scholarships of $2,000 and $1,000 will be awarded.

A People's Choice Award of $500 will also be awarded.

All repertoire must be chosen from the 2025 Competition Repertoire Requirements — but cannot exceed 9 minutes in length.

Performers at the Winners Concert must provide an accompanist, if needed.

Please Note

All scholarship winners may be invited to perform at a Tuesday Musical event on a mutually agreeable date.

Eligibility Criteria

  • If you have won first-place scholarships twice from Tuesday Musical in the past, you may not compete again in the same category.
  • You must be an Ohio resident or studying with a college/university music teacher at an Ohio academic institution.
  • You must be currently enrolled in a music-degree program at a college or university.
  • You must not have been born before March 22, 1995.
  • Scholarships are awarded at the discretion of the judges, whose decisions are final.

Repertoire Requirements for Performance Applicants

IMPORTANT: Please prepare the complete works/movements as described in the repertoire requirements. Your total adjudicated performance time will be 15 minutes; the judge will monitor the timing so that all required repertoire will be performed at least in part.

  • All repertoire that requires accompaniment must be performed with accompaniment‪.‬ ‬‬‬ 
  • Only repertoire originally written for unaccompanied instrument or voice may be performed without an‬ accompanist‪.‬ ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
