Audience Reviews It was our pleasure to attend tonight's concert. Neither of us had heard of the group before their name appeared on this year's schedule. Their vitality matched with their obvious music training provided us with a varied combination of music styles, well presented. The audience reaction was exciting, especially when "The A Train" came along in delightful jazz. Thank you for introducing us to this group.
Jeanette & John - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 Enjoyed the concert. It was fun and delightful. They are a very talented and poised young group.
Jean Schooley - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 I thoroughly enjoyed the musicians and their balanced repertoire. The HQ and Elena exhibited skillful and nuanced playing. The musicians showed that classical music can be fun and it’s OK to smile while listening to classical music.
Dorothy - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 Super experience which we probably would not have had had we not purchased season tickets, since this group was unknown to us. That is not the case any more! Thanks.
Susan Bowman - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 The Sphinx Chamber Orchestra, violinist Elena Urioste, and the Harlem Quartet were each outstanding, from the gorgeous opening anthem, through the beautiful classical and amazing 20th century pieces, to the lovely encore. The range of selections, musicians' virtuosity (and energy!), and overall blend of instrumental sound were superb. I'd have them back in a heartbeat. Thank you for their inclusion in our series.
Nikki Wingerson - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 I thought it was a wonderful concert—one of the best in recent years! They were all extraordinary musicians—and were all blessed with charismatic personalities as well. The programming was so interesting—what a mix of such a wide variety of music—all superbly played and interpreted. The rhythmic vitality and precision was amazing all evening long. The entire program had great energy and was very exciting. Perhaps this is the direction classical music should be going to create greater interest in attending concerts. I loved it! Thanks for finding them and bringing them to Akron. It was a surprise as I had not heard of them.
Nancy - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 It was one of the best ever. The ability of these musicians is way beyond expectations considering their youth. They have so much success ahead of them. The program had a diverse format. Their ability to entertain and yet remain in the serious venue of musicianship was remarkable!!!
Sandy Rexroad - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 We thought the concert was great! What a talented group of young musicians! I particularly liked that they played a few classical peices, but also newer pieces that I had never heard before. Their enthusiasm was very contagious.
Janice Gui - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 Thank you for bringing the Sphinx Chamber Orchestra and the Harlem Quartet to Akron. We have been subscribers for many years and the progrsms seem to be getting better every year. The musicianship ans the professionalism of the young artusts on the E. J. Thomas stage last Tuesday were very impressive. They obviously will have a great future career, and we are grateful to have had the opportunity to listen to their beautiful music. They should be an insapiration to our local youth.
We are alreaedy looking forward to hearing Chanticleer next month, Sincerely, Robert Millonig George Gauthier - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 Of course and thank you again. Some of the music is still spinning around in my brain today and providing comfort in a tough workplace. It was absolutely beautiful music.
Sandra Hazra - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 It was wonderful to see such energy! Am so glad that you selected this group to perform. Liked the variety of solo/duet/whole group of their both their repertoire and their presentation.
Sara Burky - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 Wow... Fantastic. Not only were the musicians fabulous but the selections, which are sometimes more important to me, were really wonderful. This is just the kind of classical concert I love to attend - some lesser known traditional pieces mixed with contemporary and infused with some jazz. Really beautifully done. Thank you
Karalyn - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 22, 2009 It was an exciting concert! what a lively opening to the season. From the (unique) Star Spangled Banner duet to the Astor Piazzolla which had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The Harlem String Quartet is amazing, and I checked my program when I got home to find out about their CD.
I also noted that many students attended, as indicated by the applause between movements. By the end of the evening, they (almost) learned when to clap. Thanks, Tuesday Musical, for bringing these wonderful performers to us and to students who are the next generation of concert-goers. Barbara Adler - Ricardo Sepulveda, September 21, 2009 The concert last night was amazing. What a breathtaking group and the variety of music was superb. We are so glad we purchased a season ticket this year even though we were interested especially in the Joshua Bell concert. I think you have assembled a group of musicians that are outstanding for this season and we are so looking forward to the next concert. Thanks again for a wonderful evening of music.
