Described by critics as "hip in a geeky, Brooklyn way (suspenders, facial hair)" and "classically trained to within an inch of their lives," the young musicians who make up Brooklyn Rider have also been credited with "recreating the 300-year-old form of string quartet as a vital and creative 21st century ensemble" by NPR's Performance Today host Fred Child.

The quartet based their name on the "exploding array of cultures and artistic energy" of their New York Borough and the cross-disciplinary vision of the pre-WWI Munich-based artistic collective, Der Blaue Reiter (The Blue Rider). Brooklyn Rider's repertoire is as likely to explore Haydn and Debussy as the music of our time. They've worked with numerous composers such as Lisa Bielawa and Philip Glass, and their affinity for global music has resulted in collaborations with everyone from Persian kamancheh virtuoso Kayhan Kalhor to Irish fiddle player Martin Hayes. Whether performing at Joe's Pub in NYC, the Todai-ji Temple in Nara, Japan or the San Francisco Jazz Festival, Brooklyn Rider invites their audiences into an unforgettable shared experience.

Tickets are $25 for TMA and AAM members, $30 for non-members and $15 for students with valid ID (plus convenience fee). Tickets will be available on the day of the show for an additional $5. Free hors d’ouevres and cash bar will be available following the concert. Purchase tickets above or call 330.376.9186 x268.
